One Year Later.... A Letter From Josh

One Year Serving Greenville Coffee

On August 22, we celebrated one year of serving Greenville coffee! It’s been quite the year.

If you didn’t know, 22% of businesses fail in the first year. Add into that a global pandemic, and that number skyrockets. I can’t begin to tell you all of the emotional toil that was brought on by this. The loneliness that was experienced- but also- the love and support my staff, family, and I felt. The community, both near and far, surrounded us and helped this dream stay afloat. There have been so many tough days and weeks, and there have been so many good days.

From the bottom of my heart- I want to thank each and every one of you. Many businesses haven’t been as fortunate as us and have had to close their doors. Every time we hear news of a shop having to close their doors due to COVID, we are deeply saddened. We are in this together and want to fight together.

Now that we have covered the sappy reflective part: let’s look at the future.

The Future of Cohesive Coffee

If you follow us on Instagram (and you totally should!)- you probably saw that we just hired a cafe manager. Eric has been with us since day one, and has been an integral part of the shop. He will help bring us into a new level of quality and excellence while I focus on growing the business to new and exciting places.

Year One was fun. But The Future is bright- and we are just getting started.

Our goal to bring community via coffee isn’t over. We are working diligently to create and focus on new goals, new recipes, and new events to make you feel welcomed and loved.

I have been working to figure out what I want for Cohesive. It was never about coffee for me- the goal was never to simply run a coffee shop- but to create a space where people felt welcomed, loved, and accepted for who they were. Coffee is the road for that, and it is indeed a delicious road. We know there are many local coffee shops you could choose from- each one with an amazing offering list and friendly staff. We are honored to be on that list.

Pumpkin Spice and Other Fall Drinks

I’d be remiss if I didn’t let you know about our amazing fall drinks.

First up we have our Pumpkin Spice Latte. Now before you roll your eyes- this isn’t your average PSL. Made from real pumpkin puree and spices- this is sure to get you in the fall mood. Flannel not included, but highly recommended for complete enjoyment

Next on the list: The Sweet Potato Pie Latte. Again- made from puree and spices, and topped with toasted marshmallows. This is just like Thanksgiving dinner, but without Aunt Edna and Uncle George asking questions about your career choices.

There’s the Pumpkin Spice Cold Foam. Cold brew topped with thick cold foam and pumpkin spices. Perfect for the Southern Fall where long sleeves are more a fashion choice than a seasonal requirement.

Finally there’s the Moon Milk. An ancient tradition from India- this is similar to Golden Milk, but without Turmeric. Made with Maple Syrup, milk (of your choice), Ashwagandha, and a few spices- this drink is designed to relax you and gently build your immune system.

DTGVL

One last thing: we have partnered with a local app company- DTGVL. DTGVL offers location based notifications for local businesses like ours. If you have the app and drive by the shop- you can be notified about special deals, treats, or even just simple gifts like a link to our curated playlist. There are a ton of amazing local businesses on this and will be an awesome addition to your phone. The notifications don’t overload your phone or get annoying- instead a helpful reminder about the local businesses around you. Check it out!
